Boredom: Friend or Foe?

I am a person that easily bored with things, people, situations, with or without any reason. And I'm not really proud of this. So after a lot of  pondering I thought to myself, "Hey you know what, I think there are some issues in your wiring." So like most frustrated people who doubt their sanity--I googled-- Is Boredom healthy?

Turns out Boredom can be both harmful and fruitful. First, let's talk about the good things cause that's what we all deserve. So the aforementioned googling expedition told me that boredom can be the beginnings of creative ideas. The way it works is that since you are super bored your mind will try to catch your attention by throwing new shiny things at you cause everybody likes the shiny thingies. And these shiny thingies happen to be your new creative ideas. You see things through a different lens because you are tremendously bored with regular cliche things. Your brain tries to give you an out. Now, this does not mean that every time you are bored you will be jumping out of the shower screaming EUREKA cause lets be real that doesn't happen very often. It just means that sometimes even insignificant things such as boredom and reading slumps can result in beautiful creative things.

Now on the flip side, excessive boredom is related to stress and depression. Your boredom can be interpreted as your disinterest in things around you. No matter how many shiny things are thrown your way, you don't see the bling in them and therefore you are bored. These boredom bouts may also be connected to a bipolar person who has severe mood swings. Again this doesn't mean that everyone who is bored with life, in general, is bipolar or depressed it just means that you're bored and that's that.

With that, I leave to your devices,
Introvert Out.
