Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

When life seems boring the new boy next door can spice it up for you.

Nicola Yoon's Everything, Everything is the story of Madeline Whittier a girl who suffers from SCID which stands for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency. What it means, is that she has a shitty immune system which keeps her confined to the four walls of her house. She is not allowed to leave her house if she does she will die. The way it works is that her immune system is too weak to fight any sort of bacteria or virus due to which she could die. Moreover, her doctor is her own mother who has turned the entrance of the house into the door of a spaceship by which I mean it is air-locked. Like most YA novels this book begins with Maddy turning eighteen and obviously *insert eye roll* with a guy. The guy being Olly, who wears way too much black and seriously needs a haircut.

The plot twist of this book really got to me. The way Nicola Yoon dealt with the whole concept was something that hit me with its emotional punch and I couldn't get over it. You know that a book is good when it stays with you long after you have read it. And Everything, Everything stayed with me because of its unique concept and a female protagonist that was a refreshing change from the everyday female protagonists. Madeline is one of those very few characters who seem very real and have actions and reactions that normal humans have. And doesn't always have a quirky reply to everything. Olly, on the other hand, seems a bit stereotypical but I can ignore that because the book is not really about him.

Yes, this book is a quick read with a whopping 310 pages and it moves on real fast. So overall this is a highly recommended book and be sure to pick it up when life seems boring and there is no boy next door in sight to spice things up.

With that, I leave you to your devices.
Introvert Out.

P.S. I'm sorry if I haven't said much about the actual plotline because honestly anything can be said to be a spoiler about this book.
